Do You Wash Your Hair Too Often?

To wash or not to wash our hair; this is a dilemma I continue to struggle with each day. Every style magazine tells us washing our hair too often makes our hair dry, frizzy, and damaged. Not washing our hair everyday allows the hair’s natural oils to repair damage and helps with breakage, but what happens when you’re one of those girls who have naturally oily hair? I know if I don’t wash my hair every day it becomes heavy and looks greasy. I know, sounds so stylish, doesn’t it? Well, I’m not going to let my greasy hair stop me! I wanted hair that doesn’t look like straw but doesn’t look like I just dumped olive oil on it either. With that said, I turned to Dry Shampoo.

Basically my definition of a dry shampoo is the best alternative to allow your hair some rest without looking like a grease ball. Usually comes as a powder or aerosol spray you use just on your roots to suck up the oil without drying your hair out. I tried a couple different dry shampoos’ ranging from really cheap to really expensive. The one I like is, “Rock on” by Beyond the Zone. The product does the same job as a more expensive dry shampoo and is pretty cheap being only around $7-10 depending on where you buy it. This saves me money for some shoes.  I also don’t use a dry shampoo all the time so I imagine if you plan on using a dry shampoo every other day you might want to try a more expensive brand.

I also know of some tips/tricks I shared below. I want to know. Do you wash your hair everyday? Do you have any tips of us? Keep the comments and thoughts coming.

• Baby Powder is also a cheap alternative to a dry shampoo. Just put a little on your roots and it will suck up the oil. WARNING: Be sure you are blending the powder in or your scalp will show the white powder.

• If you feel the need to wash your hair every day, wash just the roots and leave the rest of your hair alone.

Yoga Pants: Trendy or Lazy?

Ok ladies, I will be the first to admit, I throw on a pair of yoga pants more often than I should. Why? Because they are easy & comfortable. I was also going to say you can dress them up or down as well but it's just something I tell myself because it sounds better than saying I wear them when I'm too lazy to put together an outfit. Ha! I went to breakfast this morning and noticed most of the women were wearing yoga pants. We all know you just woke up and didn't actually work out! Lol! Is there a place and time when we say no more yoga pants? When do you look yourself in the mirror and say, "I will not wear them today. Today I will put together an outfit and conquer the world." lol!!! So my question to you and the men as well...I want your opinions on yoga pants as well, when is it ok for woman to wear them and when is it not?

Are we into MetroSexual guys?

According to the Webster Dictionary the definition of a MetroSexual is as follows "a usually urban heterosexual male given to enhancing his personal appearance by fastidious grooming, beauty treatments, and fashionable clothes". Now my question to all of you. What are your thoughts on metrosexual men? Men who take longer to get ready then woman? I have to say if it takes a guy longer to get ready then me, we have an issue. I have no problems with men taking care of themselves but are we appreciative they are now taking the time to groom or find it too feminine? I know this one guy who waxes his eyebrows so much they almost look painted on. I have mixed feelings on the whole thing because, just like every girl, I want my man to take care of himself but when do you scream, "your not a girl"!!' lol!
So my questions to men and woman alike... When does "guy grooming" become to much? Do you like a metrosexual guy or prefer the scruffy cowboy type? Do you know a guy that fits the definition? I want your thoughts and opinions :)

Product Review: Maybelline Mineral Power

I like to switch up make-up pretty often. I do not just buy one brand or only buy expensive make-up. My thought is if the product works then it just works! If the product works and is cheap, even better!
I switch foundation all the time. Partly because I see something new I want to try and to keep my skin from getting use to just one product. Change is good ladies! Don't get stuck in the make-up rut.
Ok, now on to my review of the Mineral Power Foundation by Maybelline $9.99. I have the color creamy natural- light 5. This is your drug store version of Bare Minerals, which is also half the price. The packaging is the same, which I thought was a cleaver marketing trick! The foundation is basically crushed compact powder. It has a dusty feel/look to it. Now I'm sure your thinking, yeah yeah now get on with it. ha! Does it work to cover up? Yes. Would I pick this product over a more expensive foundation? No. Why not? Because I felt like I had to continue to layer and build. The foundation felt heavy on my face and seemed to fade fast. However, if I don't want to spend much on foundation and need something to get me by until I can save for the more expensive kind, I will choose this. I will also bring to your attention Mineral Power has more SPF than Bare Minerals. Maybelline SPF-18, Bare Minerals SPF-15. Which ever foundation you choose be sure to find the RIGHT COLOR for you. I have seen everything from girls wearing foundation that made their entire face look orange. I have seen girls who tan but their face seems to look ghostly. Foundation sets the tone on how all your other make-up you put on will look. You will end up spending just as much on foundation if you have to continually apply it throughout the day because you will run out faster.
I have lots of advice on foundation. Let me know if you would like to see another blog to go more in-depth on how I find my right shade, what kind I use and other foundation reviews.
How do you pick your foundation? What kind do you use? How do you pick your right color?

Trend Alert: Aprons

Oh I know, I was as shocked as you are. We don't feel we have enough time as it is and now society expects us to look cute in the kitchen. I can't say I hate this trend, mostly because if I wore an apron to cook/bake then my awesome clothes won't get ruined. Ha! But why get some old looking apron when you can get these adorable looking ones with stylish patterns and fills!! I have to say... I'm more a baker than a cooker but I want these just cause! :) do you like the thought of an apron? Do you wear one? Id like to see pictures of your aprons!!

Weather vs. Fashion Part. 1 (Rain, Rain)

Ladies, just because the weather outside may be frightful doesn't mean your wardrobe needs be. This is YOUR chance to be creative & have some fun with prints, colors, and styles you otherwise wouldn't be brave enough to mix. Let's start with Umbrella's. Do you have one? If so, is it the same dull black umbrella you've had for years? It's the 21st century, time to upgrade. This is an accessory, ladies! Be creative and have fun. The clear color-block umbrella I posted is from Target for only $16.99! The flower umbrella is also from Target for only $29.99.

Now on to the boots! :) I found so neat looking rain boots at shiekhshoes.com (pictures below). Aren't these rain boots in the shape of cowboy boots adorable?! I think they are so cute. The rain boots are from Shiekshoes.com for only $28.97 on sale now! Do you have rain boots? What do they look like? Do you think rain boots are lame or a fashion statement? I'd like your opinions. :)

Glitter & Gold: St. Patricks Day

Time to get your green on! St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner and what better way to celebrate than to add a pop of green & gold to your outfit. I am addicted to glitter nail polish lately. Adds some sparkle, color, and glam for the day. The holiday falls on a Saturday this year which means we can be over the top or add just a hint of color. I am super excited to be able to take full advantage of the holiday this year. What are your thoughts on glitter nail polish? Depending on the type of glitter it can come across as tacky and cheap. Some of my favorites are OPI nail polishes and if you don't want to spend so much money on expensive nail polish I recommend buying a cheap gold polish and some fine gold glitter from the craft department. Apply the gold polish and while still wet sprinkle the gold glitter on. I like to top it off with a coat of clear polish. Now I must warn you applying glitter like this makes it extremely hard to take off. You will need to be patient with the nail polish remover! :)
What else are you looking for in a blog? I want ideas, products you'd like me to review, things you like me to talk about. Let's be overdosed on topics. :)
Tip: To do this look be sure to apply glitter one nail at a time instead of waiting until you get your nail polish on or the glitter won't stick.

Alert! Hot Trend-Braids

Running late for work but don't want a plain pony tail? Try a braid!! Roaming around the internet and magazines, I noticed the "braid" trend. It's been a couple months and I just got around to trying some braids on my own hair (see pic). I am surprised at how many different ways their are to wear braids. Whether you have long thick hair or shorter hair, you can find a braid that's right for you. Gone are the days of the plain french braid. Come on funk and updated style. :)
What are you thoughts on braids?
Tip: Practice makes perfect. Try different braids with your hair. Use clips, pins and just experiment.

Product Review: Sephora Prisma Chrome Shadow

I shop make-up a lot and when I say a lot, I mean A LOT. ha! One of my favorite stores to shop for make-up is Sephora. I am always browsing the new stuff and noticed Sephora had a new limited edition eye shadow collection, "Prisma Chrome" $15. The first thing I noticed was the seashell/wave looking design. The eye shadow looked creamy and so pretty! I am disappointed to say I do not care for this eye shadow. I feel as though the color is pretty but not rich enough. I feel like I have to continue to dip back into the pod to reapply for the color I was expecting.
I would not recommend spending the money on this shadow when I have gotten better colors for around $7 under the Cover Girl brand.
TIP: Be careful if you keep reapplying make-up indoors. Chances are your putting on too much! Check yourself out in sunlight. I know I've made this mistake before and ended up looking like I got in a fight with my make-up! ;)

Follow me as I ramble about make-up and style...

I have always loved make-up, hair, clothes, accessories and after years of saying I was going to start a blog I have finally done it!! I am excited for you all to take this journey with me and help me navigate through the blog world. Now please, let me warn you, I hate grammar and chances are I will put the commas in the wrong place and so forth. :) I love smiley faces and writing so I may ramble on...and on...and on. I need you all to help me understand what you would like this blog to be and what it can develop into.
For years I have had people ask me questions about my make-up and style. I figured this would be a great outlet for me to answer those questions, help with possible advice and take time to voice my opinion on all those topics and more.

Now let's get to work. :)
